WAEC Says No Warning Was Given To Borno State Gov. Regarding Chibok Girls

Fresh facts have emerged contradicting initial claims that WAEC had warned the Borno State government of the dangers of conducting the examination at the Government Secondary School Chibok as the body said they gave no such warning.

During a summoned visit by the school’s principal and officials of WAEC to the President’s wife where she inquired about the abduction, it was reported then that the Mr. Charles Eguridu said that WAEC had declared Chibok unsafe to conduct the examinations but was overruled by the Borno State government who insisted the exam conduction continue, who in their defence didn’t anticipate the height at which the mishaps would ensue.

However, WAEC has denied these allegation in a letter saying it did not single out Chibok as unsafe and the body actually made preparations alongside the state government to conduct examinations in all centres in the state revealing that Chibok was among the towns where WAEC had planned to conduct the examination.

Boko Haram attacks Nigerian military base, 24 personnel feared killed

                                          

According to BBC gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram attacked a security base in Buni Yadi, in Gujba LGA killing 24 officials. Residents of the area said the victims include 13 soldiers and 11 police officers and said the gunmen came in 10 Hilux vans, an armoured tank, and several motorcycles.

BBC Hausa Service reports that the gunmen told residents of the area to stay indoors as their target were the security personnel in the town.

The men then proceeded to attack the military base, a local government secretariat and burnt down several buildings.

How Jos suicide bomber planned to kill over 400 football fans on Saturday

More than 400 football fans cheated death in the Saturday night bomb blast that rocked Bauchi road area of Jos. Three people were confirmed dead on the spot in the blast with the fourth body discovered early Sunday morning, raising the death toll to four. A source who visited the scene gathered that the lone bomber had targeted a Television viewing centre where youths were watching the finals of the EUFA Championship League between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

An eye witness, Alhaji Garba Ahmad, who said he lost his senior brother, Alhaji Bello, in the blast, told our correspondent that the bomber had first attempted to enter the viewing centre, but was prevented by a barricade erected along the road.

“I gave my oath that I will perform my duty with honesty,” the commander-in-chief told reporters afterwards adding that, “We hope that the problems will be solved soon so we can return to the right democratic system,”
