Thailand King Appoints Army Chief As Head of Nation’s New Military Junta

Thailand King Appoints Army Chief As Head of Nation’s New Military Junta
Following the recent debacle going on in Thailand which resulted in a coup, the nation’s king, Bhumibol Adulyadej, has formally appointed the army chief as head of the nation’s new military junta “in order to restore peace and order in the country and for sake of unity”
General Prayut Chan-O-Cha who assumed great powers over the Southeast Asian nation since the coup, became the head of the National Council of Peace and Order to run the country in a ceremony in Bangkok, who in turn has resumed duty when he warned the palace that violence in Bangkok and other parts of the country was likely to spread and may “jeopardise national security”.
“I gave my oath that I will perform my duty with honesty,” the commander-in-chief told reporters afterwards adding that, “We hope that the problems will be solved soon so we can return to the right democratic system,”
