Lagos State Ministry of Health, Alausa, Ikeja - Increasing urbanization and
industrialization of Lagos State has
led to significant increase in
the number of road traffic, industrial and marine accidents and medical emergencies. This led, in March 2001, to the establishment of
Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS)
to offer pre-hospital care for the residents of the state.
Both LASAMBUS and its hospital-based analogue - Lagos State Emergency Medical Service (LASEMS) have, since inception, been running emergency service on a 24/7 basis.

The services of LASAM BUS are run with the objective of reducing the risk
ofemergencies resulting in fatal
outcomes. The creware trained to be the first responders in medical and
surgical emergencies, and the
ambulances are equipped and manned for the purpose.
As part of an ongoing process of upgrading the capabilities of the Service, it is necessary to appoint a Chief Executive Officer for LASAMBUS.

Requirements
Interested candidates should posses the
under-listed requirements:
·
Recognised training in Life
Support, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
·
A post-graduate Fellowship in
Emergency Medicine (or a comparable Fellowship) would be an added advantage
·
A minimum of ten years
post-qualification experience
·
Experience in running an
ambulance service in a busy metropolis would be an added advantage.
Scope of Duty
·
Training and retraining of
personnel in pre-hospital and hospital-based management of trauma and medical emergencies,
·
Ensuring the maintenance of an
efficient radio-communication network linking the public, LASAMBUS, LASEMS and
the Ministry of Health.
·
Maintain the ambulance points,
bases, and headquarters in optimal operational condition.
·
Coordinating the deployment,
operations and maintenance of ambulances in the fleet.
·
Strengthening and supervision
of the Marine Rescue Unit.
·
Institution of pre-hospital
care through the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to cover all the LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos
State.
·
Leading Advocacy within the
general public to sensitise the public to issues pertaining to Emergencies and
appropriate response.
