The former
Zamfara State Governor and current Senator, Sani Yerima, whose marriage to a
13-year-old girl drew widespread outrage in 2009, has openly pressed the Senate
to reverse a vote to outlaw underage marriages.
He explains
that it is against Islamic law to say anyone that is married is underage
because once you’re married, you are of age. Weird logic, but please be my
