GB JOBS: Corporate Affairs & Communication Manager Nigeria

The incumbent will be responsible to anticipate, assess, and communicate to management changes in the operating environment and build the Corporate Affairs capacity in Nigeria, in addition to giving support to other WECA markets as requested by management; establish stakeholder mapping and identify an 



engagement strategy with them; act in conformity with JTI Guidelines and code of conduct; develop market related regulatory positions based on JTI 's global approach of these issues; integrate the Corporate Affairs objectives into WECA market business strategy; establish clear objectives andperformance criteria for Public Relations Consultants or any agency or consultant engaged to support the function; share best practice with Corporate Affairs Professionals in other markets.

The incumbent will also be in charge of JTI's media and
 communication issuesin Nigeria and other WECA markets.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

1. Anticipate and assess changes to the company’s Operating Environment which create commercial risk and competitive
 opportunity.
Ensure anticipated changes are communicated to the market and hub managements and the sub-regional CA Director.

2. Share local experience with other market CA heads through regular meetings or
 conference calls to enrich global knowledge, benefit from best practices and contribute to global initiatives.
In this way, build a CA capacity in Nigeria according to management needs and priorities and based on available resources.

3. "Work with the GM of Nigeria and other West, East and Central African markets as requested by management to develop programs through which the Operating Environment will be shaped or influenced to minimize commercial risk and secure a sustainable, competitive advantage".

4. Establish, where applicable, political, regulatory, and media stakeholders mapping which identify the groups or individuals who influence and shape public and government policy and opinion.

5. Make sure that all global
 positions, corporate engagements, financialinformation released to the general public and corporate philanthropy actions conducted in Nigeria are compliant with the JTI Code of Conduct and the company’s Operating Guidelines , the company's positions, and are coordinated with regional Headquarter.
On these cases, and in case of any doubt, he should
 consult with the CA Director MESSA.

6. Develop, or work with functional counterparts to develop market relatedpositions
 and views regarding public issues which have significant impact on the company’s operating environment and share them with markets management and sub-region.

7. "Develop political, regulatory, and media engagement strategies to ensure that the company’s
 positions and views are presented in a fair and accurate manner to adequate stakeholders.

- Reporting : incumbent should be engage in clear and regular reporting about his actions in the market he overlooks to his direct reporting line (in that case it is the market GM and the sub-regional lead ) using for that the tools established by JTI (Stakeholders Mapping and Calendar of engagement)."

8. Establish clear
 performance criteria and objectives for all Public Relations consultants / and or agencies engaged by the company in Nigeria.
Ensure that Public Relations strategies are aligned with the company’s
business goals and performance objectives and compliant to its code of conduct and global positions.
Ensure that all Public Relations programs are assessed against
 performance criteria and objectives.
Selection of external consultants should be coordinated with regional and headquarter, related Market GM and sub-regional GM and CA Director MESSA.

9. Corporate Philanthropy : If and when needed , the incumbent should identify Corporate social Responsibility projects and Corporate Philanthropy
initiative in his market and follow up on JTI’s engagement

Qualifications :
Education:

Bachelor degree preferably in Law, or political sciences, or Media & Communication, or Business Administration

Languages & Computer Skills:

Fluent in English, French would be highly valued.

In depth understanding of multinational environments and operating within a matrix organization.

Proven interpersonal skills, and a team player

High level of relationship building both within and outside the organization.
