Edo Lawmakers Engage In Public Fight


Yesterday, Monday the 23rd of June, 2014 the crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly became very shameful as four lawmakers were served their suspension notice by a court bailiff.  Although they were served but they still insisted in taking part of the sitting. Some of their colleagues, who felt they were breaking the law, resisted them physically and it became a free for all fight. 

The police commissioner was immediately invited and he suggested they would be screened before getting in, but the suspended lawmakers immediately opposed him and another fight ensued.

What a shame!!!

60 More Girls Abducted in Borno

                #BringBackOurGirls: 60 More Girls Abducted in Borno
About sixty girls between the ages of 3-12 years have been abducted by insurgents in Kummabza village of Damboa local government area of Borno State. Reports from the area indicates that the insurgents also killed about thirty people and destroyed property worth millions of naira during an attack on the community. Residents of the village are taking refuge in Lassa and Gulak in Adamawa State. They appealed to the authorities to provide them with shelter and relief materials to reduce their sufferings.

UK makes changes in visa application centres

                                     
THE British High Commission, on Monday, urged Nigerians to take note of the changes it had made in its visa application centres in Lagos. The commission announced this in Lagos in a statement signed by its Head of Press and Public Affairs, Mr Robert Fitzpatrick. It said that Teleperformance Limited would, as from July 1, 2014, take over the running of its visa application centre in Lekki, Lagos.
The statement said the new office was located on Churchgate Tower 2, Plot PC31, Churchgate, Lekki. “In July 1, 2014, our new commercial partner for UK visa services, Teleperformance Limited, will take over the running of our visa application centres in Lekki, Lagos. “Visa application centres in Abuja and Ikeja, Lagos, will continue to be operated by VFS Global Services.

Sudan court orders release of Christian woman on death row


An appeal court in central Sudan has ordered the release of a woman on death row for marrying a Christian and refusing to convert back to Islam. Meriam Ibrahim’s death penalty was upturned on Monday in by an appeal court in Khartoum.

She was married to a Christian man and a Sharia Court found her guilty of apostasy and adultery on May 11, and was sentenced to death by hanging.

Man Explains Why He Buried Ex-Customs Official & Daughter Alive

                               
The Lagos State Police Command on Monday paraded a 64-year-old native doctor, Alhaji Olatunji Azeez, who confessed to have killed a retired customs officer, Mrs. Angela Kerry, and her 10-year-old adopted daughter, Obiagulum, on May 10, 2014.

PUNCH Metro had reported on Monday that the decomposed bodies of the woman and her daughter were found in Azeez’s house in Ire Akari Crescent, Ajuwon Akute, Ogun State by operatives of the Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad. The police subsequently marked the building as a kidnapper’s den.
