Job Purpose
-Ensuring that vessels continue to meet the standards and criteria required by Clients, Class and Statutory regulations.
-Authority to stop any person from performing an unsafe act.
-The Marine Superintendent may direct any Master, officer or crew member on any issue regarding health, safety, and security or pollution prevention while noting Master's overriding authority onboard.
-The Marine Superintendent may correspond with the Client on all contractual and operational issues .
Operational Roles
-Ensuring company owned and managed vessels are operated in a safe, efficient and economical manner and in full compliance with Class and Statutory regulations.
-Liaising with the Port Captain and Vessel Masters with reference to Certification, Safety Equipment and Loose Lifting Gear etc.
-Provide an on time, safe, reliable, and cost effective marine service operation for vessels during project.
-Create an environment of continuous improvement.
-Identify, manage and monitor risks.
-Advise on the operations of his specific vessel
-Liaise closely with the vessels' masters and chief engineers to ensure the vessels hulls, machinery and equipment are operated efficiently and maintained in good condition.
-Ensure that accident and incidents are reported and investigated and corrective actions taken;
-Liaise with local authorities for the smooth operation ofthe vessels in their territorial waters.
-Ensure that the vessels in all aspects comply with the requirements of Classification Society and Government Regulations and hold valid trading and survey certificates at all times.
-Ensure the compliance of the vessels to the ISM Code within his area of responsibility and assist with the investigation of incidents.
-To identify opportunities to improve facilities to increase customer service and company value.
-Ensure to have a good working relationship with the client.
-Liaising with the Personnel Department regarding all aspects of travel, crew changes and other Personnel issues in conjunction with the Vessel Master. Monitor crew overlap days.
-Undertaking visits offshore to vessels on locations as required.
-Ensuring that end of month vessel paperwork is reviewed and outstanding issues acted upon
-Assisting in the internal and external audits of vessel which we own, manage or operate.
-Liaising with all agencies operating in the ports regarding vessel clearance
-Manage all marine related activities including ship chandelling activities
Requirements/Skills
-A good first degree from a reputable University/Polytechnic or relevant professional qualification(s) Will be an advantage.
-Some Maritime experience preferred.
-Qualified Deck Officer preferably with command experience.
-Onshore experience in project team.
-Khowledge of charter party's and all contractual clauses.
-Experience in contractual relations with the client position.
-Must have a strong background as a Marine Superintendent with a minimum of 10 years' experience.
-Must be familiar with vessel clearance procedures and pilotage
-Must be able handle all administrative issues, correspondences etc. without supervision.
-Must be familiar with Supply Barges and have excellent marine expertise.
-Must be a computer Literate
