President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of a new Comptroller General for the Nigeria Immigration Service. He is David S. Paradang, an Assistant Comptroller of Immigration in charge of state coordination at the NIS headquarters, Abuja. Abba Moro, the Minister of Interior, who made the announcement on Monday night, said the new immigration boss hails from Plateau State.
In addition, seven Deputy Comptroller General of immigration (DCGs) and all Assistant Comptroller General of immigration (ACGs) senior to the new immigration boss would be asked to leave. The appointment of Mr. Paradang, has effectively ended months of intense lobbying on who succeeds Mrs. Rose Uzoma, the immediate Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI) who retired early in 2013.
Mrs. Uzoma was asked to leave the service three months to her retirement following allegation of high-headedness, corruption and indiscipline while in office. The new Immigration boss will be sworn in Tuesday morning. He will be decorated tomorrow by 9:00am by the Interior Minister, Abba Moro
