Following the news yesterday on the Arik Air employees who were caught for drug trafficking their management has confirmed that a couple of its crew members were in detention for having
drugs suspected to be cocaine in their possession after one of its flight to
the U.K.
On Tuesday a statement released by Arik Air spokesman, Adebanji
Ola, said that the airline was co-operating fully with the investigators in
Nigeria and the UK.
According to reports, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency had earlier
said that it would probe two Arik Air crew members allegedly found with cocaine
at Heathrow Airport, London.
“Arik Air remains committed to the fight against drug and
illicit substances trafficking and will not tolerate the use of any of its
aircraft or crew for the courier of banned items and substances,” he said.
“Arik Air carries out very stringent checks on all members of
staff and its traveling guests ahead of all flights.”
“It will continue to focus its attention on measures to prevent
the possibility of any future similar incidents.”
“Arik Air is a responsible Nigerian company always seeking to
maintain and uphold the integrity and proud reputation of the nation.”
