Zuba Grade 1 Area Court in the FCT, yesterday, sentenced eight women to six
months imprisonment each for prostitution. Those sentenced were (names removed
by me), of no fixed address in Zuba.
The judge, Mallam Alhassan Kusherki, sentenced the accused persons after they pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of soliciting men for the purpose of prostitution. Kusherki, however, gave the convicts an option of N20,000 fine each.
Prosecutor, Momoh Ibrahim, had told the court that the offence contravened Section 405 (Paragraph 1(b)) of the Penal Code.

WHY DID THEY FINE THEM? WHAT FOR?
There should have been no fine if the sentence is for a corrective measure. Their male counterpart will bail them out.
No smoke without fire what happen to the men, abi dey be police that were not settled?
This is unfair and miscarriage of justice. When does using what you have to get what you want becomes a crime. To me, prostitution is a sin not a crime. I hope the punishment is not premised on the teachings of those foreign religions where there hypocritical leaders amount insane wealth and the other encourage savage killings of fellow human beings.
Prostitution is the oldest profession of all known professions. No amount of religion, social engineering, government laws can eradicate this profession. No country throughout the world has succeeded in doing away with prostitution.
