The PDP state chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, described the plenary held by the APC lawmakers at the Government House as abnormal, which was targeted at eroding the principles of separation of power.
He added that while two-third majority was needed to impeach an Assembly speaker or deputy speaker, only 15 lawmakers including the Assembly speaker, were present at the plenary where the deputy speaker was impeached.

National Conference: Confab endorses creation of Ijebu, Aba, 17 other states, supports rotation of presidency among zones

National Conference: Confab endorses creation of Ijebu, Aba, 17 other states, supports rotation of presidency among zones
The National Conference on Thursday voted for the creation of 18 more states in the country. The creation of new states was one of the decisions taken by the delegates at their plenary while considering the report of the Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government. Apart from the 18 new states proposed, the conference said a separate state-yet-to-be named should be carved out of the South-East to bring the number of the states in the zone to six.
In creating a new state from the South-East geopolitical zone, the conference said the creation would correct the imbalance of the zone having the least number of states. In the existing 36 states arrangement, each zone has six states with only the North-West having seven states. The new states proposed by the conference are: Aba, to be carved out of the present Abia State; Katagum, from Bauchi State; Ijebu, from Ogun State; Amana, from former Sardauna Province; Apa, from Benue State; Anioma, from Delta State, Savannah, from Borno State; and Etiti, from South-East.

Let's change Nigeria’s name to 'Airegin' - Confab delegate, Mike Ozekhome

A federal government delegate, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN yesterday called for change of the present name of Nigeria to a proposed one called “Airegin” because according to him, the name Nigeria was twisted by the colonialists and it would make a clean brake from the past. Speaking yesterday while contributing at plenary during debate on report of committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government with Gen. Ike Nwachukwu and Mohammed Umara Kumalia as co- Chairmen, Ozekhome also called for a reversal from the present National Anthem to the former and older one which was written by Taiwo Akinwumi, adding that the old flag that was designed with the rising sun on it should be re-introduced against the backdrop that it was peculiar with all parts of the country.
