DRIVER RAPES 15 YEAR OLD , BLAMES THE DEVIL.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a driver, Olusegun Ajayi, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old housemaid in Arepo, Ogun State.The NSCDC authorities said the suspect had canal knowledge of the girl which caused her to bleed for two days. Ajayi, however, told PUNCH Metro that his act was not rape since the victim consented. The suspect, who claimed to be a devout Christian, said he did not know the victim prior to the incident.

FIRST BRITISH PRIME MINISTER MARGARET THATCHER DIES AT 87.

Former British Prime Minister, Baroness Margaret Thatcher died this morning at the age of 87 after suffering a massive stroke. Mrs Thatcher was UK's first female Prime Minister, serving from 1979 to 1990, the longest run by any 20th century prime minister.

Her spokesman Lord Bell said: 'It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning.'. May her soul rest in peace...amen

PASTOR ARRESTED OVER ROBERY ATTACK AT MMI AIRPORT

Wonders shall never end. On Tuesday, Lagos State Police Command paraded seven suspects of a robbery gang that attacked the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, last month, killed two policemen and injured several others.Among the suspects, was the General Overseer of The way of Joy church located in Egbe, a Lagos suburb. The clergy, identified as Pastor Ibikunle Olarewaju John, confessed to Crime Guard during the parade, that he administered an oath of secrecy on the gang members, on the day they attacked the Muritala Mohammed Airport.

Members confessed to have attacked same airport last year,where they carted away N600 Million. They also stormed the airport on again on March 13, 2013 at about 7.30 pm.The robbers said to have succeeded in carting away over N10 Million from a Bureau-De -change operators, went straight to their hideout inside a bush in Ijebu-Ode, where they shared their loot.

However, Pastor Ibikunle, disclosed to Vanguard reporters that his share of the loot was N500,000. But investigation carried out by Crime Guard, showed that he might have got more. A further attestation to this claim, was the discovery that Pastor Ibikunle bought two cars apparently from his share of the loot, two weekes later.

NELSON MANDELA DISCHARGED FROM THE HOSPITAL

Former President Nelson Mandela has been discharged from the hospital following treatment for pneumonia, the presidency said in news that cheered South Africans who had waited tensely for health updates on a beloved national figure.

 South Africans hold the former leader dear as a symbol of sacrifice and reconciliation stemming from his pivotal role in steering South Africa from the apartheid era and into democratic elections in 1994, at a time of great hope but also tension and uncertainty. The new South Africa, beset by economic inequality, crime and corruption, has not lived up to the soaring expectations of its people, but they still see hope through their icon, Mandela.

The deputy Governor of Ekiti state, Mrs Olufunmilayo Adunni Olayinka is dead

Statement signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information; Tayo Ekundayo, announced the demise of Mrs Olayinka, late Saturday night.

“It is with sadness but with gratitude to God, the passing of the State Deputy Governor, H.E. Mrs Olufunmilayo Adunni Olayinka, aged 52, after a tough but courageous battle with cancer” the statement read.

“She died on Saturday evening.”

The late Mrs Olayinka, was an accomplished banker who worked in the financial industry for 21 years before her foray into politics and election as the deputy governor of Ekiti state on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

May her soul rest in perfect peace.

OUR FIRST LADY RETURNS TO ABUJA

Our first lady the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, returned to Abuja yesterday after spending about three weeks abroad. There were reports during the week suggesting that she was flown abroad to an undisclosed German hospital for medical treatment. But this was denied by her spokesman.

The Nigerian Television Authority reported the arrival of Mrs. Jonathan at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, aboard a presidential jet in company with her children and close aides. The wife of the Vice President, Hajia Amina Sambo, and some female ministers received her at the presidential wing of the airport.

Although there were indications that she travelled for medicals the First Lady's media aide, Ayo Osinlu lamented that: "It is unfortunate that again, some media houses have allowed themselves to be used by dedicated mischief makers against the basic tenet of professional journalism, which regards truth as sacred."
