Personally, am always happy when I see a Jumia advert. The way their advert is been positioned strategically in virtually all the internet sites and billboards in Lagos, actually shows how dominant they are and their intention of being the best online retail company in Nigeria. I was even happier when I read an article on Vanguard Newspaper that a London-based hedge fund growth equity firm Summit Brothers will be investing N6 billion in Jumia brand in Nigeria, Egypt and Morocco, with new funds tailored for setting up more ventures across the African sub-region.

 In a statement by the head of Summit Partners, Mr. Scott Collins, said that Jumia has established itself as a fast-growing company and they  seek to invest in companies around the world that build long-term value. Responding to the development, co-founder of Jumia, Mr. Raphael Afaedor, said: “As Nigeria’s number one online retailer, Jumia plays big within the Nigerian market, with a vision to being the solution to online retail in Sub-Saharan Africa. As a place for direct retail shopping online, we implement 24-hour availability, a local and global reach, with the ability to interact and provide custom information and ordering, as well as multimedia prospects.

I honestly can’t help but wonder what the way forward is from here, as even in such short time Jumia Nigeria has not failed to deliver on their service offering. KUDOS JUMIA.

Recently, Facebook unveiled a software suite which stakes out a “home” on Android smart phones as it steps up its challenge to Apple and Google in the booming mobile market. Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said the new software weaves the social network into the home screen of HTC and Samsung phones powered by the latest versions of Android to focus experiences on “people and not apps.” Facebook called the new software “a new way to turn your Android phone into a great, living, social phone.”

The software, which allows users to see Facebook first when they turn on their phones, will be available for download from Google’s online Play shop in the United States starting April 12, Zuckerberg said. Google took more than half of those revenues, but Facebook’s share in growing: eMarketer said the social network accounted for 9.5 percent of mobile ad revenues in 2012 and is expected to take 13.2 percent this year.

HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE BURNT TO DEATH ON BENIN-ORE HIGH WAY!!!

A very sad event took place this afternoon at Igbogui village in Benin and it involved three heavy duty vehicles; a Young Shall Grow Motors luxury bus, a fuel tanker with registration number GA 71 XA, and a Dangote truck carrying cement.

Over 100 people were burnt to death when the fuel tanker exploded following the accident. The fire spread to surrounding shops and burnt several cars packed nearby. Survivors have been rushed to the hospital while rescue efforts by the Federal Road Safety Corps & Civil Defence Corps continues.

GOSSIP, AMEBO, ASIRI !!!...........YES YOU.

GOSSIP!!! One act most of us engage in knowingly and unknowingly. Most of us can't even live without engaging in such activity on a daily basis. For a real Nigerian its not called gossip rather AMEBOR!!! 

According to Vincent Adepoju the Nigerian Pidgin English term  "Amebo" can be said to demonstrate the positive and negative potential of communication beyond its role in fulfilling the most immediate needs  as a fundamental human quality and value.

However  Bella Naija's post "Amebo-Yes, I'm Talking to You"  gave a clear explanation of Amebo. As a  noun she described it as a person, mostly a woman, of Nigerian descent, of questionable, cowardly character and low morals, esp. one who delights in EXTREMELY idle talk; an unproductive individual; a silly twat and as a verb, Amebo, is to concern oneself about other people’s affairs; to go about causing havoc by spreading false or private information; to be cowardly as to not being able to stand by comments or information that one has made. Similarly it examines its expanded generic meaning as it entered into Nigerian public discourse as referring to gossip, in relation to personal and public demonstrations of this phenomenon in different parts of the world. 

Personally, its just an individual who is either idle or jobless that carries out conversations, reports and information about other people that are not confirmed as being true. A simple nonentity. 

Please describe gossip or an amebo in your words. 

PRESIDENT GOODLUCK AND GOOD FRIDAY...

President Goodluck Jonathan today joined Christians worldwide in celebrating the Good Friday, a day set aside to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. He attended a special service for the day at the Aso Villa Chapel alongside his mother, Eunice, and a few presidential aides. The President led the opening prayer of the service which was conducted by his Chaplain, Ven. Obioma Onwuzurumba. He prayed for peace in the country and all parts of the world.
